This story plays so well in the 60’s,when the women’s movement hadn’t yet put a big dent in the old boys’ club. And visually, it’s familiar territory to some of us (yes, I had bedroom curtains that looked like this wallpaper…), and, thanks to shows like Mad Men, is even recognizable to younger generations.
