Wolf Trap has been celebrating the relationship between art and nature for years. And on August 24, we get an infusion of another sort of “green” – the “Joe Green (a.k.a. Giuseppe Verdi)” kind. :)
The Filene Center hasn’t played host to Verdi for quite a few years – probably since our Falstaff there in 1996! But in our alumni’s Greatest Hits concert, we make up for lost time.
Mary Dunleavy will bring her signature Violetta (“Sempre libera” from La traviata), James Valenti will sing “La donna è mobile” from Rigoletto (joined by Mary, Denyce Graves and Richard Paul Fink for the famous quartet), Eric Owens will perform King Phillip’s aria from Don Carlo, and in homage to that 1996 production I mentioned above, all 23 singers (14 alumni and 9 current Filene Young Artists) will join forces for the Falstaff finale.
Tutto nel mondo è burla.
Go green.
