During the 2016-17 season mezzo-soprano Megan Mikailovna Samarin is featured in three productions at Houston Grand Opera, singing Siébel in Faust, Second Secretary in Nixon in China, and covering Wellgunde in Götterdämmerung. She will return to Houston Grand Opera 2017-2018 for Sesto in Giulio Cesare and Carla Mae in The House without a Christmas Tree.
In 2015-16, Ms. Samarin performed Olga in Eugene Onegin, Lady Columbia in the world premiere of O Columbia, Third Wood Nymph in Rusalka, and Lady Maresvale/Mistress Revels in the world premiere of Carlisle Floyd’s Prince of Players. She also sang Second Lady in Magic Flute and Johanna in Sweeney Todd at HGO during the 2014-15 season. In summer 2015, she made her Glimmerglass Festival debut as Marzia in the American premier of Vivaldi’s Cato in Utica. She is a former member of the HGO studio, and she was a Wolf Trap Opera Studio Artist in 2014.
Megan will be featured in WTO’s 2017 productions of Rossini’s The Touchstone (Baroness Aspasia), Tosca (Shepherd), and Glass/Moran’s The Juniper Tree (Son.)
